About this work
A single dancer is shown bent forward at the waist, head down and dark garment draped loosely over the torso and arm. The legs and feet dominate the foreground, wrapped in blue leg warmers above pale, well-worn ballet slippers, set against an almost empty tan ground.
Loose charcoal-black contours model the bent figure while the warm paper is left bare for the background, giving the sheet an unfinished, spontaneous feel. Patches of cobalt blue and chalky white bring quick accents of color, capturing a private, momentary pause before movement resumes.
