About this work
The mural fills the vaulted ceiling and walls of a small chapel: winged angels hover in a blue upper register with trumpeting cherubs in the corners, while a central scene shows Christ enthroned among haloed apostles beneath an arched canopy. Full-length robed saints holding a book, a cross and confronting a dragon flank the walls, above a balustrade with two framed icons and a red curtain.
Deep blue, brick red and gold dominate, with flat contour lines, simplified drapery and gilded halo discs typical of icon-derived church decoration. Light from two side windows warms the red curtain and wooden floor, grounding the stylized, hieratic imagery in the modest interior.
