About this work

Irregular patches of thawing snow spread across a grassy field bordered by a dark line of forest. A cluster of young spruce and birch saplings stands at the treeline on the right, while an open meadow of dry brown grass stretches away under a pale sky.

Pale blue sky, golden-brown grass and cool violet shadows within the melting snow build a fresh, sunlit palette. Pastel is blended softly for sky and distant trees, with more textured strokes defining grass tufts and snow edges, giving the view an early-spring lightness.
