About this work
Several tall wooden mooring posts, wrapped with strips of rope, stand in a wide expanse of choppy green lagoon water, with a low wooden walkway connecting them. In the distance, a hazy skyline of low buildings and a domed structure rises against a pale, overcast sky.
The palette is built from muted greens, grays and soft ochres, with the water rendered in broad, loose knife strokes of jade and olive. The distant architecture is reduced to soft violet-gray silhouettes, dissolved by atmospheric haze. Thick, textured paint throughout gives the quiet lagoon a tactile, weathered stillness.
