About this work
In a stylized garden with clipped hedges, a reflecting pool and a ruined colonnade, a tall woman in a lilac pleated gown leans over a seated nude figure whose head sprouts a crown of thin green leaves and small blossoms in place of hair. Holding tweezers, she arranges the leafy strands as if dressing hair, while the seated figure sits cross-legged on an iron bench, one arm wrapped around a raised knee, gazing outward. Blue irises and dense foliage crowd the foreground.
Soft lavender, sage and pale green tones blend in muted, hazy light, with delicate, painterly brushwork softening every edge. The quiet, dreamlike scene feels tender and strange, part garden idyll, part botanical fantasy.
