About this work

Two motionless figures lie slumped on a grey couch, heads marked with red wound-like stains, limbs hanging limp toward the floor. Between them a bare-legged figure stands on the sofa cushions, and to one side a third person sits hunched and curled with knees drawn up, framed by a small screen showing flames on the wall behind.

Grey and flesh tones dominate, cut through by tangled red scribbles that loop across the walls and pool like blood on the floor below the couch. The mix of a childlike title, a burning television and visibly wounded bodies creates a jarring, disturbing tension between playful and violent registers, unsettling rather than comforting.
