About this work
A heavy, reclining nude lies twisted across a slab, her limbs folded and her head turned away, its features smeared into a rough, matted mass; above her body a violent spray of white paint crosses the canvas like breaking surf, while at right a pale pipe juts diagonally, releasing a stream of blue liquid into a dark pool below a black horizon.
Fleshy pink and beige tones contrast sharply with the stark black background and cobalt blue accents, the white paint built up in thick sculptural ridges against smooth, thinly glazed skin; the collision of careful anatomical modeling with abstract violent gesture creates an unsettling, dramatic tension.
