About this work

The image is a tight close-up of a household light switch: a grey metal toggle plate fixed to a wall covered in pale green striped wallpaper, positioned right at the vertical wooden edge of a door or window frame. Nothing else appears in the frame beyond these two textures meeting at a seam.

Rendered in soft pastel, the composition sets warm honey-toned wood grain against cool mint-green striped paper, worked with fine, even strokes that mimic both the worn wood surface and the fabric-like texture of the wallpaper. The extreme close framing turns an ordinary fixture into a quiet, almost meditative study of surface and texture.
