About this work
A woman sits with her body turned toward the viewer, one leg bent and raised so the knee comes up near her chest while the other extends down. Her dark hair falls loosely around a softly blurred face, her bare torso and limbs filling most of the composition against an undefined, cave-like dark space.
Pale flesh tones, built up in creamy whites and warm ochres, stand out against a background worked in deep charcoal and blue.
