About this work
Broad diagonal bands of pink and red cut across a ground of yellow horizontal stripes, crossed by a long grey serpentine line that curls near the top like a ribbon caught in motion. At the right, looser strokes of white, grey and rust suggest a half-formed head or figure emerging from the turbulence.
Built from thick, dragged impasto in hot pink, ochre, yellow and burnt orange, the surface is scored with drips and scratches that read as gusts of movement. The raw, gestural handling and clashing warm hues create a restless, high-energy abstraction evoking sun and wind rather than depicting them literally.
