About this work
A tall domed structure resembling a cathedral tower emerges faintly from an enveloping haze; its outline is barely legible, built from vertical drips and smeared strokes rather than defined architectural lines. Surrounding it, layered patches of muted color suggest surrounding buildings and atmosphere dissolving into mist, with no ground line or horizon clearly marked.
The palette is dominated by grey, taupe, and blue-grey tones, broken by streaks of ochre and gold marking the illuminated crown of the tower. Thick impasto, scraped and dripped, builds a heavily worked surface across the canvas, evoking damp, muffled air and semi-abstract dissolution of solid form into weather.
