About this work
A pale dirt path lined by a low wrought-iron fence curves through a park of slender trees, some bare, others budding with fresh green leaves. Through the trunks, the dome and facade of a large building glow in the middle distance, while a small figure moves along the path beside a thick old tree trunk in the right foreground.
Dappled greens and ochres describe new foliage against a pearly sky, with the architecture rendered as soft, light-struck patches of cream and gold. Brushwork is loose and varied, thicker on the nearby trunk and grass, thinner and hazier toward the background. The overall effect is fresh and airy, capturing the transitional light of an early spring afternoon in the city.
