Silence

A mountain range spans the far shore of a broad lake or bay under a hazy morning sky. In the foreground stand a weathered wooden shed with a plank fence, dry reeds and scrub grass along the waterline, and a tall utility pole strung with wires rising against the horizon. No figures are present.

Soft ochre, mauve, and dusty blue tones describe the mountains and water under diffuse, even light. The paint is applied with loose, textured strokes and palette-knife impasto across the shoreline grasses and reflections, giving the whole scene a still, hushed atmosphere true to its title.
