About this work
Several masts and rigging lines rise from a cluster of moored boats at the center of the composition, their hulls and sails merging with reflections in the water below. The far shore and sky dissolve into soft grey-blue haze, giving no clear sense of a specific harbor.
Cool blue-greys are warmed by streaks of gold and rose where light breaks through near the masts, echoed in shimmering reflections on the water. Rapid, loaded brushwork and dripping vertical strokes evoke mist and movement, lending the harbor scene a hazy, atmospheric mood.
