About this work

Yellow-framed panels alternate diagonal teal-and-white stripes with graph-paper grids to fence off an empty grey lot; a low red-and-white striped curb block sits nearby, two round red ornaments dangle from thin wires, and distant rooftops, antennas and power lines are silhouetted against an overcast sky beyond worn wooden decking in the foreground.

Muted greys and blacks dominate the sky and ground, punctuated by saturated teal, yellow and red; graphite underdrawing shows through translucent watercolor washes, and grid lines with faint handwritten marks recall construction signage. Flat planes and sharp diagonals give the scene a graphic, poster-like clarity and a quietly unsettled atmosphere.
