Series "Artist and model"

A bearded man sits with his head bent low, cupping the face of a nude woman who leans into him, her cheek pressed near his chin as their bodies fold together at the centre of the sheet. Their limbs interlock below in a dense tangle of ink, feet splayed at the bottom edge, isolating the pair as the sole subject on the blank page.

Applied with a loaded brush, the Indian ink alternates between fine outline and pooling wash, the darkest passages concentrated where the bodies meet, leaving the faces and upper torsos in pale, open line. The intimacy of the pose combined with the raw, dripping texture of the ink gives the drawing a tender yet unsettled mood.
