About this work
On the left, huddled robed and partly bare figures lean into one another amid dark foliage and scattered flowers. A vertical band of dripping red descends through the center from a bleached, skull-like shape at the top, while a solitary standing figure emerges from shadow at the right edge.
A near-black ground is broken by acid greens, blues and crimson drips applied with thick impasto and scratched linear marks. Isolated pools of light pick out faces and hands, producing a tense, ritualistic atmosphere charged with unresolved narrative.
