About this work

Two glass vessels hold generous bunches of roses in deep red and rose-pink, interspersed with sprays of small white flowers, standing on a wooden tabletop near a window. A tin plate sits beneath one vase, and a plain glass tumbler stands between the two arrangements. Green foliage is visible through the window behind, and the artist's signature appears at lower left.

Saturated crimson and magenta blooms are set against cool green leaves and a muted brown table, creating strong color contrast. The roses are built from thick, twisting strokes of paint that suggest overlapping petals rather than describing each one, while the white blossoms are dabbed in loosely. The overall mood is bold, dense and full-blooded.
