About this work
Dense clumps of trees in orange and rust autumn foliage, with one dark conifer among them, line the far bank of a calm lake. A low band of mist hovers just above the water, separating the trees from their near-symmetrical reflection, while streaks of pink cloud drift across a saturated green sky above.
Color is heightened and stylized, the teal-green sky, coral clouds, and glowing orange canopies pushed toward decorative contrast rather than natural subtlety. Smooth, flat paint in the sky meets denser, textured strokes in the foliage, and the near-perfect mirrored reflection gives the whole scene a vivid, luminous intensity.
