About this work
The canvas is divided into large flat fields of color: a tall grey-blue panel on the left, a burnt-orange rectangle in the upper right marked with faint stenciled Cyrillic letters, and a dark zone along the bottom edge. Thin scratched lines, a small stenciled numeral, and strips of raw white ground cut across the composition, with no recognizable piano or object in sight.
Paint is applied in broad, dry-brushed strokes that leave the canvas weave visible, and the surface is scored with fine incised lines, giving it a worn texture. The restrained grey, orange and black palette and cryptic lettering create a quiet, enigmatic mood closer to a weathered signboard than a figurative scene.
