About this work
A tall, hazy white-blue vertical band cuts through the scene like a shaft of light or faint rainbow, set against pale buildings whose windows and rooftops dissolve into soft color on the right. Below, a wet street reflects diffused light, with one small yellow accent breaking the muted tones near the pavement.
Paint is applied in loose, blended strokes with almost no hard edges, the palette limited to powdery blues, warm greys, and sandy ochres. Light is diffuse and even, filtering the view through a soft haze that blurs architecture into atmosphere. The impressionistic handling and damp, hushed color give the street a dreamy stillness.
