About this work
Ramshackle wooden sheds on stilts, linked by planks and ladders, cling to a rocky ravine; a jumble of pipes and hoses cascades down toward dark water below. A lone figure crosses a narrow footbridge on the left while two seated figures rest on a plank platform near the lower shed. Rocks, corrugated roofing, and tangled cables fill every corner of the composition.
Carved entirely in black and white, the print builds form through dense parallel and swirling gouges that mimic wood grain, rushing water, and rusted metal. The stark contrast and crowded, maze-like arrangement of structures create a heavy, dramatic industrial atmosphere, typical of graphic printmaking.
