About this work
A still pond fills the foreground, its dark green surface mirroring the sky and a two-gabled wooden house glimpsed through a screen of trees on the opposite bank. A garden hose coils near the house's porch, and a flowering pink shrub brightens the shoreline at right, while thick foliage closes in on both sides.
Broken sunlight falls through the leaves in patches of gold and lime green, picked out with quick, loose strokes over a warm ochre ground.
