About this work
Deep-purple plums, several beaded with water droplets, fill a wide stemmed glass bowl set on a wooden ledge. More plums lie loose in front of and beside the bowl, their smooth skins catching bright points of reflected light.
A single strong light from the upper right models each plum's rounded form and the bowl's clear glass, while the background dissolves into flat black. Cool blue-violet highlights sit against warm reddish skin tones, painted with a taut, glassy sheen.
