About this work
Three pomegranates are arranged in a row on a scarred wooden ledge: whole fruit with dry crowns bookend a central pomegranate broken open, its rind peeled back to expose dense clusters of translucent red seeds. A few loose seeds scatter across the wood in front of the fruit.
Deep crimson and burgundy skins glow against a near-black backdrop, while the exposed seeds catch the light in translucent pinks and reds. Strong directional lighting carves out the fruit's rounded volumes and creates sharp highlights on the wet, glistening seeds, and the smooth, detailed brushwork gives the whole scene an intense, almost theatrical richness.
