About this work
A weathered wooden pier extends into calm grey-green water, lined on both sides with moored rowboats and larger dark hulls. A white-painted vessel flying a small red flag sits moored at the end of the jetty, and a lone figure walks along the planks toward it, with more boats and a distant shoreline beyond.
Cool greys, browns and muted blues dominate the palette, applied in confident, broad strokes that capture worn wood and still water without fussy detail. The overcast light and quiet harbor activity give the scene a workaday, subdued calm typical of a northern lake landing.
