About this work
A slender, dark bottle-shaped form with a bright gold-orange neck and foil-like cap stands at left, while beside it a pale, greyish-white mass with pinkish undertones curls and bulges, suggesting a wrapped loaf or cloth-draped object, set against a nearly black tabletop and a warm brownish-red upper background.
Heavy impasto and visible palette-knife strokes build the surface into thick ridges, with the gold highlight the brightest note against surrounding near-black and forest green. Loose, fragmented brushwork dissolves the objects' edges into shadow, giving this small still life a dense, brooding, almost molten texture.
