About this work
A young woman with tousled dark hair stands at the near end of a long wooden pier that recedes into misty water, glancing back over her shoulder. Her white robe billows loosely around her body, caught mid-motion, while weathered posts line the planks beside her and the pier vanishes toward a distant, barely visible shoreline.
The sky above is built from streaked rose, violet and plum, applied with vertical drips that read as falling rain or fading light. Thick impasto and loaded palette-knife strokes shape the robe and water, contrasting with the more softly modeled face, giving the scene a charged, dramatic intensity.
