About this work
In a bare, water-stained corner, an old bed frame or storage case leans against the wall, its base spilling crumpled papers and cloth onto the floor beside a scuffed white chair. Hanging nearby are a folded cloth, a turquoise rag, and a ventilation grate, while a small framed picture of an orange tiger leaping against a blue sky is pinned at the center of the plaster.
Muted beige and rust tones dominate, with the tiger's orange stripes and turquoise cloth as the only saturated color. Flat, even light leaves little shadow, and tight, precise brushwork renders grime, wood grain, and peeling plaster with hyperreal detail, lending the abandoned corner a quietly melancholic stillness against the small image of motion.
