About this work

A crescent moon hangs above a rough, rocky landscape, while at right a cluster of smaller, stooping figures follows behind, echoing his weary gait; at far left a solitary shadowed figure stands apart against a cliff.
Bold parallel hatching builds the massive folds of the cloak and the striated stone walls, leaving the moon and lit edges glowing white against deep black grounds. The exaggerated scale of the leading figure against the huddled group behind gives the print a somber, processional weight.
