About this work
Above a tall arched window, an androgynous winged figure hangs inverted, one bare foot raised, as the glass around the frame shatters into jagged shards. A second, darker figure braces against the sill and grips the falling body by the arm and shoulder. The view looks steeply upward along a sand-colored facade whose windows recede into the distance.
Warm ochre and sepia stonework contrasts with the near-black plumage of the outstretched wing and the cool grey glass shards. Loose, urgent strokes trace the broken pane and tangled limbs, while the figures are modeled more solidly, creating a dramatic, vertiginous moment poised between rescue and fall.
