About this work

A slender blue bell tower crowned with a gold onion dome and spire rises above a St. Petersburg canal, framed by trees and a rose-pink building with a dark red roof. A barge is moored at the embankment on the left, its hull reflected in the rippling water, while a stone quay curves along the foreground.

Soft, diffused light typical of a white night washes the scene in peach, lavender, and pale blue, with the sky built from broad, blended strokes that dissolve into the water's surface. Loose, confident brushwork and a muted, harmonious palette give the view a hushed, luminous calm.
