About this work
Heavy snow blankets branches in the foreground, opening onto a small wooden house whose window glows amber in the blue dusk. A tiny horse-drawn sleigh with a dog trotting alongside makes its way down a cleared path toward the lit doorway.
The palette is built almost entirely from cool blues, violets, and whites, thickly applied with a palette knife to give the snow real physical texture, against which the warm glow of the window reads as a small beacon. The effect is hushed and serene, a quiet winter homecoming.
