About this work
A row of canal-side buildings in ochre-yellow and rose, their windows and cornices picked out with light, stretches across the middle distance under a night sky streaked in deep blue and violet. Dark vertical shapes, columns of a nearby portico, frame the view at both edges, with snow visible on the rooftops.
