About this work
A row of dark-green spruces and mixed deciduous trees forms a dense backdrop across the middle of a forest clearing, with two bare birch trunks framing the view at the right edge. In front of the trees, a meadow of tall grass and rust-colored wildflowers catches the sunlight, opening onto a small dark patch of bare earth at the center foreground.
Cool blue-green shadows in the conifers contrast with the warm yellow-green grass and touches of orange in the undergrowth, all rendered in fine, controlled detail that picks out individual branches and blades. Soft white clouds drift across a clear sky, and even, bright daylight gives the glade a calm, sunlit freshness.
