About this work
A long stone embankment blanketed in snow runs from the foreground toward a row of pastel-colored buildings under a pale winter sky. An ornate cast-iron balustrade with garland motifs, half-buried in snow, lines the near edge, while a small bridge crosses the frozen river in the distance.
A muted, near-monochrome palette of grays, pale ochres, and soft blues conveys overcast winter light. Thin, controlled watercolor washes render the snow's softness against the crisp dark silhouette of the ironwork, producing a still, quietly cold atmosphere along the empty embankment.
