About this work
The composition is filled almost entirely by rippling water, with a pale rectangular shape in the upper right suggesting the reflected arches of a bridge or building. A dark branch or cable cuts diagonally across the surface, and scattered white flecks catch stray points of light on the water.
Acid yellow-green dominates, streaked with ochre, blue and black in loose vertical drips and scraped passages that let recognizable forms dissolve into pure color and gesture. The result is an immersive, almost abstract impression of light shimmering across a river surface.
