About this work
A wide, panel-divided composition unfolds a gym interior: on the right a woman in a black sports top and shorts hangs from an overhead pull-up bar, torso twisted and one leg drawn up, while on the left more loosely painted figures in teal and violet move and stretch near a door and a paned window. A red machine and a squat radiator anchor the lower register of the scene.
Mustard yellow, burnt sienna, teal and violet dominate the palette, with forms simplified into flat, angular shapes divided by hard black outlines and canvas seams recalling cubist collage. Brushwork is broad and matte, giving the space a stage-set flatness and a taut, muscular energy.
