About this work

Overlapping panels present a cubist-style breakdown of a dart game: a woman in a rust-toned top raises a dart toward a black-and-orange bullseye target, while a bent figure in pale drapery leans in beside her and a seated figure appears at the lower edge. Fragments of a striped wall, a doorway and a golden crescent shape are wedged into the surrounding corners, and a flat yellow floor plane cuts across the bottom.

Muted olive, rust, ochre and grey dominate the palette, applied in thick, opaque strokes and divided by hard black seams like a broken mirror. The mix of representational faces and abstract geometric planes gives the composition a restless, puzzle-like tension, closer to collage than straightforward narrative.
