About this work

A woman in a coral dress stands on a wooden floor, looking toward an open doorway where a second woman in teal crouches on the veranda, reaching toward small pale objects on the ground. Beyond a bare garden and house are visible; inside, a table holds white calla lilies and scattered pear-shaped forms, echoed on a nearby chair, while a gilt mirror reflects a distant landscape.

Muted taupe and dusty rose fill the interior, warmed by the coral and teal dresses, while the garden beyond is built from small dabbed, pointillist touches of grey and ochre. Even, diffused light flattens the room into quiet planes, and the repeated pear motifs give the calm domestic scene a subtly puzzling undertone.
