About this work
A round metal tray stands upright behind a cluster of vessels on a table draped with a brightly patterned woven kilim: a long-necked brass ewer, a tall coffee pot with a wooden handle, a squat copper cezve, a metal kettle and a brass pepper grinder. Two pomegranates and a shallow metal bowl sit among the folds of the cloth, all set against a rough stone wall.
Cool greys and blues in the stone wall and metal surfaces set off the warm reds of the pomegranates and the rug's woven pattern of diamonds and crosses. Loose, visible brushstrokes model the reflective curves of the pitchers and tray, giving the arrangement a quiet, tactile solidity.
