About this work
A tall, dense bouquet of white daisies, purple and blue bellflowers, pink mallow, and yellow buttercups fills a glass vase standing on a wooden table. Beside it, a white plate holds a scatter of red raspberries, and the corner of a bowl of peaches appears at the lower edge, set against a pale, window-lit wall.
Saturated color is built with quick, loaded strokes, each blossom formed from a few dabs of white, violet, or yellow. Even, bright light flattens the background into soft green-blue washes that push the flowers forward, giving the whole still life a fresh, abundant, vividly decorative feeling.
