About this work
A radiant golden-red disc dominates the upper register, a faintly sketched face within its ring and a sword slicing across it; seven branched lampstands hang beneath, rays streaming down toward a solitary black-robed figure who stands with arms lifted on a rocky outcrop above a harbor of masted ships and rising smoke along a blue sea.
Loose etched lines carry pencil-like scribbles that dissolve into translucent washes of yellow, orange and red bleeding from the disc, while cooler blue settles over sky and water. Handling shifts between tight drawing and free brushwork, giving the vision an unstable, glowing presence above the quieter harbor.
