About this work
Three young women act out a game of blindman's buff among reeds and pale wildflowers by a lake shore. Two of them are blindfolded, one in a grey dress leaning back with a raised hand and one in a green robe patterned with red leaves crouching low with arms extended, while the third, in a flowing pink robe, stands apart with arms crossed, watching from behind a tree trunk.
Cool teal water and sunbleached grass set off the hot pink, green and red of the robes, giving the scene a stylized, decorative flatness. Crisp outlines and smooth modeling of the faces produce a playful, suspended tension between the hidden and the seeking figures.
