About this work
Against a flat, dot-textured blue-grey ground, three cropped figures in athletic tops and shorts bend backward over round exercise balls, arms and legs splayed as they stretch or tumble. A fourth, solid black circle floats near the lower left with no figure attached, and the three bodies are scattered irregularly across the square canvas, each isolated in its own pocket of space.
Muted taupe, grey-blue and pale turquoise dominate the palette, with skin tones the only warm accents against the cool, patterned ground. Forms are smoothed and simplified, brushwork tight and controlled, and the embossed dot texture behind the figures gives the surface a quilted, upholstered feel, lending the scene a playful, weightless calm.
