About this work
A nude figure lies curled across the canvas, warm ochre and flesh tones forming the torso, hip and thigh against a deep violet-black ground. Near the hands, knotted magenta and dark brushmarks read as gloves, while the lower right corner opens into a burst of raw red.
Paint is applied in thick, ridged impasto with a loaded brush or knife, colors dragged and layered wet-into-wet rather than blended. Forms stay loose and unresolved, verging on abstraction, with no rendered facial features. The heavy texture and clashing violet, ochre and red create a charged, unsettled mood.
