Balaklava

A small white house sits tucked into the greenery at lower left, and a strip of deep blue sea appears along the right edge beneath a hazy ridge of distant mountains under a patchy sky.

Warm ochre, salmon, and olive tones cover the hillside in short, energetic strokes laid side by side rather than blended, giving the terrain a vibrating, sunbaked texture. Cooler blue-greys in the sky and sea balance the hot land colors, and loose, calligraphic mark-making across the slope conveys strong midday light and open-air immediacy.
