About this work
A dancer in a full white tutu and a wreath of flowers in her hair leans forward, one arm extended to steady herself as she reaches down toward her pointe shoe. Behind her a second figure in dark clothing stands close by, partly obscured in shadow. The backstage setting is suggested by a blue curtain and a warm-lit corner.
Warm gold and brown tones dominate the dim backstage space, broken by a cool patch of blue at the curtain. Broad brushstrokes shape the tutu's volume and the dancer's bent posture, while the background stays loose and undefined. The lighting and closeness of the second figure lend the scene an intimate, unposed feeling.
