About this work
Overlapping planes of stylized foliage fill the composition, breaking into faceted diamond shapes on the left and long, ribbon-like curling leaves across the center and right. Two slender bare tree trunks rise vertically through the middle, anchoring the otherwise weightless pattern. Small clusters of dark leaves and berries punctuate the design amid swirling, decorative tendrils.
Soft lavender, mint, gold, salmon and dusty rose tones blend across the visible woven texture of the paper support, with fine colored-pencil hatching building up each facet. The layered, kaleidoscopic arrangement flattens depth into pattern, producing a delicate, dreamlike impression of autumn foliage rather than a literal view.
