About this work

A blocky, geometric concrete structure, likely a small bunker or utility shelter, stands on a grassy embankment beside a pale road at the bottom edge of the canvas. Its pale walls form an L-shaped mass around a black, doorless opening, with a low green slope rising around it and disappearing into total darkness above.

The concrete is painted in chalky greys and off-whites with visible brushy texture, set against flat, near-black greens and an undifferentiated black sky. The stark geometry and the void of the open doorway give the structure a closed-off, somber presence, more fortress than refuge.
